His research focuses on hydrocarbon accumulation mechanisms, resource assessment, and unconventional petroleum geology. Honored as a Distinguished Scholar of China University of Petroleum and appointed to the university’s Graduate Education Supervision Panel, he is an awardee of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region’s "Tianshan Talent Program" and a High-Level Geological Talent designated by the China Geological Survey. He has led multiple national and ministerial research projects including those under the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), National Special Programs, and China Geological Survey initiatives. His accolades include one Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, alongside provincial/ministerial awards (one First Prize, three Second Prizes, and one Third Prize). Prof. Shicai Sun, Shandong University of Science and TechnologyMember of Shandong Energy Industry Expert PoolProfessor Shicai Sun, is a doctoral supervisor at Shandong University of Science and Technology specializing in natural gas hydrates, energy storage, energy conservation, CO₂ sequestration, and new energy development. Having led over 20 national and provincial-level projects—including the NSFC General Program, Shandong Provincial Natural Science Foundation/Major Basic Research Program, former Ministry of Land and Resources Industry Research Fund, and National Special Collaborative Research Initiatives—he has published 30+ first/corresponding-author SCI papers in authoritative international journals and secured multiple invention patents.
